Cybersquatting

I think cybersquatting is a tricky issue. On the one hand I think there are times when cybersuquatting is OK. I think when some one is cybersquatting to make a social or political statement, that should be allowed. It seems to be a right to free speech. Now, I think when someone is cybersquatting purely for profit, that shouldn't be allowed. It dose not seem right for people to search out domain names and snag names that big companies have missed, hoping for a buy out. But it seems hard to be able to regulate legally. On the one hand if my little company that has been around forever has the same name as a big company, the little guy has just as much a right to the domain as the big company. Also, cybersquatting that is making social/political comments should have just as much right to there names as well. It is a tricky issue, I'm not sure if there is just on set of broad rules that is right for every case. I think you have to look at each one on a case by case basis. It is hard to say how to solve these problems as the quantity of names shrinks.

Internet Change

Looking back to when I started high school, I certainly use the internet much more today. I think the internet has had an overall positive effect on my life, but there are a few negatives as well. The internet has certainly helped my life when it comes to school. I google and wikipedia things almost every day. The ability to be able to access so much information helps writing papers and getting work done. I don't just use the internet for school though, one of the other things I use on the internet quite often are sites like facebook and myspace. These sites are great, they help me keep with all my friends. On the opposite side though the internet has had some negative side-effects. Sometimes the internet can be to distracting. Facebook doesn't help my procrastination at all. I will just waste time surfing around on facebook, putting off working until the last minute. But overall though the internet has been positive. I can access information, shop, IM, email, etc so easily now. It has made my life a lot easier by far.
